Not Just Blog Posts

Please, for the love of all gods and deities and whatever...

Don’t just create hubs using blog posts. Everyone does that. Soon, someone will hear one of us talk about hub pages at a conference or something and start repeating it to all their clients like overtrained parrots. When they do, they’ll use one thing: Blog posts. We’re smarter than that.

Create mini-hubs using product copy. Create ten different kinds of longform and interactive pieces and yes, a few blog posts and link inline for an in-context hub. Use the top nav.

You don’t have to build a hub using one kind of content, either. Mix it up. Use a few posts, a couple of product pages, that interactive piece you created because the boss heard about parallax scrolling, whatever.

Use your imagination. That’s the whole point of content hubs: They recombine content in creative and useful ways. Now go get to work. I’m not paying you to read and learn!!! Oh, wait, actually I am. Please read this over. Let me know if you have questions. Learn this concept inside and out. It’s something very few marketers understand. If you do, you’ll leave clients’s jaws hanging open, because once you understand it, content hubs seem simple. But they kick ass.
